Mazie and Scott Bridals | Utah Wedding Photographers

Mazie and Scott knew they wouldn’t have a lot of time on their wedding day for pictures so they opted to do their bridal session at the Salt Lake Temple, where they were married.  It was so fun to shoot there without all of the crowds and in the evening when the light is perfect! Mazie had her dress custom made and isn’t it gorgeous?!?  I am so impressed by some people’s talent. Scott got his suit from Jos.A. Bank and Mazie’s flowers were done by her aunt!  It was such a perfect fall day for a bridal session!

Taylor and Kory Wedding | Utah Wedding Photographers

Taylor and Kory got married on a beautiful warm October day at The Atrium in Sandy.  Taylor looked gorgeous in her dress from Fantasy Bridal.  Seriously, I have never seen a dress from there that wasn’t amazing! And Kory got his Tux from Tuxedo’s by Lee.  They had a fall themed outdoor ceremony and Taylor and Kory’s cute parents danced down the aisle after the ceremony!  I loved how fun and upbeat their families were!  There was a luncheon in between the Ceremony and Reception that was catered by Costa Vida!  After lunch, we grabbed some shots of the family, bridal party and bride and groom.  Then it was party time!  Their reception was a blast with SO many details!!  Their gorgeous cake was by Granite Bakery and flowers by The Flower Patch.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect day!

Kristen and Travis Engagements #2 | Utah Wedding Photographers

We did a reshoot of these two because it was raining at their first session.  This time they chose Wheeler Farm and it is honestly one of my favorite places to shoot!  It is easy to get to, always open and the landscape there looks great year round.  In fact, we also did Kristen and Travis’ bridals at Wheeler Farm because they loved it so much!  I can’t wait to share those, but that’ll have to wait until after their wedding!  I absolutely love working with these two and even though Travis HATES pictures, I don’t think it was too painful for him 😉  At least I tried to make it fun!  haha!!

Ross Family | Utah Family Photographers

These are my darling neighbors!  I am so lucky to not only live by them, but also have the opportunity to do their family pictures many times! This time they wanted the downtown look for their location and Downtown Kaysville is one of my favorite places to go! The buildings are so unique and it’s close to home 🙂  They made my job so easy!  I mean they are a pretty dang good looking family so my job was pretty much just to show up!  haha!!  Thanks Ross Family for having me do your family photography again!

Taylor and Kory Bridals | Utah Wedding Photographers

I shot Taylor and Kory’s Bridals at the Utah State Capitol Building.  It is the perfect place for a bridal session when the weather outside is less than desirable or if you’re looking for somewhere elegant and classy!  Taylor wanted her bridal session with Kory so they decided to do a first look at the bridal session.  I love it when couples choose to do a first look and I love it even more when they want to do their bridal session together.  It takes so much pressure off of the wedding day because believe me, wedding days are always unpredictable and the timeline is always short so it’s nice to get the majority of the bride and groom pictures out of the way before the wedding day!  Then on the actual wedding day, you can relax and not be stressed if there isn’t enough time for pictures.  Of course, we will still do as many pictures on the wedding day as time will allow, but at least you have options this way.  Taylor looked stunning in her dress from Fantasy Bridal.  Kory got his suit from Tuxedos by Lee.  Both of them looked great and I loved working with them!!

Taylor and Kory Engagements | Utah Wedding Photographers

I absolutely loved working with Taylor and Kory!  Kory is the brother of one of my favorite past brides Kaitlin!  We shot Taylor and Kory’s engagement session up at the beautiful Silver Lake up Big Cottonwood Canyon.  Engagement sessions are one of my favorites because it gives me a chance to get to know the bride and groom and see how they are in front of the camera and with each other.  Turns out me and Taylor have a  lot in common!  For one, she loves fall just as much as I do and she had a gorgeous fall wedding (coming to the blog soon!).  Thanks for everything Taylor and Kory!  It was so much fun getting yelled at by old ladies with you 😉

Osborne Family | Utah Family Photographers

One of my favorite brides came to me for a fall family mini session!  I have been privileged enough to do engagements, bridals, wedding, an after wedding couples session and several other family sessions with them!  I am always so happy to see Krystal and Jonny and watch their cute family grow!  Their son is just a heartbreaker and always gives in to my bribery 😉 I had so much fun and can’t wait to see what’s in store for them!

Mazie and Scott Engagements | Utah Wedding Photographers

Meet Mazie and Scott!  These two were an absolute joy to work with!  We did their engagements during my busiest time of the year for family and mini sessions and they were willing to drive from Provo to Farmington for their session last minute so I could fit them in!  I so appreciate that! They were so easy going and fun to work with.  I just think the world of these two!

Here is their love story!

  1. We met January 2016, my first semester at BYU after my mission, in the same ward. Scott was assigned to be my home teacher and we became good friends.
  2. In February Scott called and asked me on a group date to go see Divine Comedy at BYU. Afterwards we went back to our apartment complex and played ping-pong together (Scott beat me). Then I gave him a spontaneous singing lesson!
  3. For our second date we went on a tandem bike ride to Utah Lake and on the way back we stopped at a swing that is next to Provo River. The day of the proposal we went on another bike ride down the same path. On the way back from Utah Lake we stopped at the same swing and our family had set up a fancy lunch on the picnic table. Our little siblings were dressed up and gave us our menus. Behind my menu was a letter Scott had typed up. As I read it, his sisters brought out two dozen red roses and the ring box. Scott then proposed and I said YES! Then we enjoyed our delicious lunch. It was perfect and he totally surprised me!
  4. We both agree that our relationship was very serendipitous! I had just gotten home from my mission in November and neither of us were looking for a relationship. I felt drawn to move to the apartment complex where we lived. And we both felt drawn to each other. The end of March we began exclusively dating, after we had already made a habit of seeing each other everyday 🙂
  5. Homework. Just kidding, although it has taken up a large part of our time together. We like hiking, going on walks, talking, making and eating food, watching old tv shows, going on spontaneous adventures, and doing the simple and ordinary things of everyday life together.
  6. Yes, we both are attending BYU. I am studying Elementary Education and Scott is studying Exercise Science, for Physical Therapy.
  7. Scott works as an AV Install technician and helps install systems and fix problems in classrooms across campus. Mazie works as an operator for BYU, answering questions and transferring calls.
  8. I love looking into her eyes, I love seeing the amazing spirit that is in her, she has a wonderful countenance, she loves God, and she honors the covenants that she has made with Him. She is a nurturer, teacher, and friend. So basically I am just saying I love all of her.
  9. I love that Scott is spontaneous and makes life an adventure. He loves life and also knows how to work hard. I am always inspired by his perspective on life and I admire his desire to follow Jesus Christ. He turns outward and is constantly serving others. I am grateful for how thoughtful he is and always finds little ways to serve me. He is absolutely wonderful.

Hanson Family | Utah Portrait Photographers

What a fun family this was!  We met at Snowbasin for their session on a Saturday morning.  They wanted winter family pictures and it was perfect up there!  Even at the first of March!  We combined their family pictures with some senior pictures of their oldest son Koby.  And they ended the session with a family snowball fight!

Elora and Jesse Bridals | Utah Wedding Photographers

Elora is such a trooper! She lives near Boise, Idaho and was down for the weekend visiting Jesse in Provo.  I had a crazy day of mini sessions and could only squeeze her in before and after some of my sessions.  She was more than willing to come and meet me in Bountiful to do some pictures of her alone.  Then she went back to Provo to pick up Jesse (he had work and couldn’t get off earlier) while I did some more sessions, then drove all the back to FARMINGTON to get some pictures of her and Jesse!  Then back to Provo for the night!  I LOVE my brides!  They are so awesome and always so willing to make it work!  Trust me, this kind of thing doesn’t happen regularly but I sure appreciate when people are flexible!

Elora came and met me first at Mueller Park for her portion of the bridals, then Farmington Trail later for some pictures of her and Jesse!  I love love love fall and these are the perfect locations for beautiful fall leaves!  Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Elora and Jesse Engagements | Utah Wedding Photographers

There is one thing I HATE about weddings and no it is not the bridezilla’s or the demanding schedule, it’s not working with amazing people like Elora and Jesse regularly anymore 🙁  I absolutely thought the world of these two and their love they had for each other was just awesome! They were the nicest people you’ll ever meet and I enjoyed every second with them!  I was lucky enough that they chose me to be their wedding photographer and hopefully (fingers crossed) they’ll call me again to do their maternity, newborns, family pictures etc.. in the future!!  In fact, I am DEMANDING that they do!

We shot their engagement session at Wheeler Farm!  I am sure I have mentioned this before but I love Wheeler Farm!  It a great place to shoot at anytime of year and there are so many different options and places to shoot that every session looks different!  And every time of year looks different too!

I am now booking for 2017 weddings and portrait sessions so contact me today to book yours! amanda@amandaabelphoto.com

Rachel and Taylor Engagements | Utah Wedding Photographers

I met Rachel a couple years ago and was THRILLED when she asked me to be her wedding photographer!  I mean, look at these two…..they are adorable! This cute couple met through a mutual friend.  They were both going to school at BYU but are originally from the San Diego area.  Right now, Taylor is at BYU Idaho while Rachel is living in Utah so they are having to deal with a long distance relationship as well as long distance wedding planning!  That would be so hard!  I can’t wait for their gorgeous wedding in MAY!!!  We shot their engagements at Wheeler Farm…you can never go wrong with Wheeler Farm! I LOVE shooting there!  No matter the time of year, it looks great and different.  And if you don’t want any of the rustic elements, you can just head to the back and get an outdoorsy/nature feel.  The day of their engagements it was super windy!  The weather is always so uncertain at this time of year and being an on-location photographer, it makes it kind of hard!  But we went for it anyways and I am glad we did 🙂
