i shot emilee and justin’s wedding back in may and it was such a fabulous day! i love spring weddings!  you don’t realize how brutal the heat is until you all of the july weddings :)  but on emilee and justin’s wedding day we had sun, rain, snow, hail, wind.  but i would honestly take that over 100 degree heat anyday! maybe i am just getting old haha!  i was honored to get to shoot this wedding with the fabulous david perry.  so onto the fabulous wedding…..

their reception was at the pointe.  i loved shooting there!  there are windows all around so the lighting was incredible and i didn’t even need a flash until it got dark. 

i love catching emotions, especially crying.  her dad was giving a speech right now and that always calls for a few tears.

i also LOVE laughing shots!!!  maybe even more than crying :)  daddy daughter dance.

i shot this wedding clear back in january and i still have a ton of other things to blog, but i thought that this wedding was too fabulous to not post!!  abbey and evan got married at log haven in millcreek canyon.   abbey is a photographer herself and i was SO honored to shoot her wedding!!  it is always a huge compliment when another photographyer asks you to shoot their wedding. abbey and evan have such fabulous style and i absolutely loved the decor of their wedding!   it was all tree themed and honestly so incredible!!  check out the details below and you will see what i mean!  let me know what you think!!

confession:  i am a HORRIBLE blogger!!! sorry everyone who follows my blog.  i get busy and it is easy to put my blog off rather than editing or family time of course, so i will try my best.  i do want to get everyone of my sessions on the blog because they are so fantastic! just have patience and please dont leave me :) 

wedding season has begun and it is in full swing!  jasmina and dave got married on april 17th at the hotel monaco and it was so incredible!! i absolutely love the green striped walls in the rooms!!  i had so much fun (maybe a little bit too much fun) with the detail shots on the walls.  wow!   jasmina is such a sweet and sincere person and i am so lucky to have been able to work with her and dave!  you could tell they have so much love for each other! their wedding ceremony was very emotional and beautiful.  jasmina’s parents were here from bosnia and during certain the ceremony jasmina’s sister translated what the judge was saying for them.  it was pretty neat!  thank you so much shanda for coming along with me!  i had a blast with you!!  i went a bit overboard on the pictures but there were so many i loved!!

it has been a crazy few weeks but at least i am getting all of my current sessions and weddings on the blog!!  so it turns out that after all of my excitment about being able to run like i never have before, has come to a screetching hault.  you see, was on my 5th day of running 3 miles per day and i swear the second i stepped on the treadmill, my left knee started to hurt.  but i ran anyways.  after that  i could barely even walk, let alone exercise  for about 2 weeks.  :(  i went to the foot doctor and apparantly the  heels of my feet are the problem.  he taped my feet and instantly my knee felt better.  so i am easing back into running and maybe that will help.  has anyone ever had anything like this happen and were you able to run again?  i am bummed because i was actually starting to enjoy it and crave it, but maybe i will get there again soon!  wish me luck!

the day laura and sean got married was seriously SO beautiful!  it was a warm and beautiful spring day.  we were all a little worried earlier in the week because it had snowed like 2 feet on monday and tuesday!  but by saturday, it was all gone and everything was perfect!!   congratulations laura and sean!  you guys were so awesome and fun to work with!!

heather and matt had their reception on 12/29/09 and got married on 12/30/09.  they had their reception the night before their wedding at heather’s dad’s auction house in salt lake.  it was such an amazing place!!  she had a winter theme and it turned out so cute and perfect.  it snowed like crazy both days which is exactly what heather had always dreamed of for her wedding!  it turned out so beautiful! heather and matt are seriously some of my favorite people ever.  they are so sweet and down to earth and i just enjoyed every minute i got to spend with them.

day 1- reception

i love this shot of the 2 moms helping heather with her dress and they were both so giggly.  it was adorable!

playing around with some off camera lighting at receptions is one of my favorite things to do!  i  love to try new things and get different and cool lighting.  for this one i put my flash behind the centerpiece and slaved it from my camera flash.  i set my on camera flash to 1/128 power so there was basically no light coming from it.

for this cake shot i did basically the same thing as i did for the above centerpiece shot, but i set my camera flash to have a little power coming from it, so i didn’t completely black out the front of the cake.  i still wanted to preserve some of the detail in the front.

for this cake shot i slaved my flash the same as the other two but had my lovely assistant brock hold my flash off to a 90 degree angle.  it is pretty direct flash which i don’t really love all the time, but i really actually do love it in this shot.

for this shot, i had my flash on camera, but i didn’t want flat front lighting, so i bounced it off the wall to my left.

day 2- temple

they had their sealing at the draper temple, which i love!  it was snowing pretty hard when they came out and when we did family and group pictures but when it was time to do bride and groom shots, the snow calmed down quite a bit and it turned out to be so beautiful!

for all of the outdoor shots i used natural light and it was a perfect overcast, snowy day!

i am leaving tomorrow to go to a photographers convention!  i am so excited to learn new things and to implement them into my business.  i will be back next wednesday.  see you then!!  also, to any new brides who are looking to book with me for their wedding, get on the phone and call now!  i am booking up super fast and i do only take a limited number of weddings a month.  i have already had to turn several brides away :(  i can’t wait to hear from you all!!!

their cake topper.  so cute!

i shot heidy and conrad’s wedding back in july at the beautiful park city mountain resort.  they got married at the top of the mountain in a meadow.  it was so amazing! 

they were supposed to be able to ride the alpine slide down after the ceremony but as we were doing pictures it started raining so they had to take the ski lift down.  but i was able to get some awesome shots of them on the ski lift. 

this little guy (and lots more) was hanging out on the alpine slide. 

danielle and jordan got married back in july at the castle in layton.  it was such a beautiful and emotional wedding.  i loved being able to be a part of thier incredible wedding!

angie and luke got married on a rainy day in june.  yep that is right.  i am playing catch up!  they got married and had their reception at the market street grill.  it was fabulous!  i absolutely loved it.  their families were so much fun and i had a blast watching them dance all night!  i loved what everyone was wearing and even i showed up that day wearing their colors ( it completely unplanned and i felt like an idot,especially since i NEVER wear brown, ever! ) and i adored their sweet and fun son indie!  thanks for this awesome opportuntiy you angie and luke!  your wedding was amazing!!

their ceremony was supposed to be outside on the roof but it was raining cats and dogs!   but i think it turned out AMAZING inside!  i loved it!
